The Groove Krickets
   
 
The Groove Krickets are a four piece rock band from Nashville,Tennessee.USA. Formed about a decade ago, the band is strong in their music and their perseverance. Like many notable bands, the lineup has changed slightly over the years, but the music remains hard drivin and constant. During their years together, The Groove Krickets have toured the world extensively. They have thrilled crowds in Iceland, Germany, Holland, Spain, Portigual, South Korea, Okinawa, Guam, and Belgium.
The Groove Krickets have even delivered their "bull by the horns" brand of rock n roll to over 70,000 military personnel in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, immediatly following the Gulf War, meriting a Civilian Service Award. The Groove Krickets have been featured on numerous television networks, including NBC and CNN. Video footage, continually being taped on their touring adventures, was edited into a ten part series and aired on various cable networks across the nation. The Groove Krickets are currently promoting their three song cassette, produced by Billy Cox, known for his work in Jimi Hendrix,s, Band of Gypsys. Recording continues for The Groove Krickets, and the band plans to release a full length CD in the near future.





 
Interview with Dave Baker,lead vocals
Q;You've been doing this along time ? DB:The Groove Krickets 10 years. Q:What kind of environment do you come from? DB:I guess typical, I grew up in Dayton,Ohio, a midwest factory town. Q:Your the preachers son. DB:Yes I am. Q:What was that like? DB:Oh, kinda churchy I suppose. Q:What sparked your interest in music? DB:I used to play my Aunts 45 collection when ever we would visit, She had all these scratchy worn Motown records and Chuck Berry, Bobby Darin, it got me jumpin around.I've had the bug ever since. Q:Who else influenced you? DB:When I was about 7 or 8 this kid gave me this Stones 45, "Honky Tonk Women",I think.At that time I thought the Rolling Stones and The Archies were the same band."Sugar Sugar" and "Brown Sugar" ya know. Q:What was your first concert you saw? DB:Deep Purple,Ritchie Blackmore was bangin up strats 3 at a time. They had this huge mirror ball, organ grindin ,"Space Truckin",I was like,WOW. Q:Who's your favorite band? DB:Besides The Groove Krickets Q:Yeah DB:I don't know any single one.I got a list I guess.Little Richard,UFO,Doors,Stones,Zep,Ramones,I dig The MISFITS, just about any band with the attitude. Q:What is ROCK N ROLL to you? DB:Its a life style, the whole ball of wax. Q:What kind of band do you see the Groove Krickets as? DB:We're a fun band I think, We got the wiggles and its our outlet. Q:How many songs do you have? DB:We've managed to narrow it down to about 200, but we keep writin more. Q:How many are out on recordings? DB:Around 50 over the years.We always made our own tapes and sold them at shows and door to door,HA HA.. Q:How many albums? DB:Well I couldn't really pinpoint that one for ya,We always bootlegged our own stuff in all different compilations and formats, so chances are if you have a GK tape or record its one of a 1000 or 500 ,and some maybe 20. My personal collection is mainly individual masters. I recently found a copy of 4 songs on a 7 inch ep.
